About SyLvan Celtic Fellowship
Welcome to Sylvan Celtic Fellowship. We have created here a Celtic tribal hearth community and Druids to serve it. Our goal is to create a form of Celtic-Pagan worship that our ancestors could understand, yet remain relevant enough for our modern times.
We strive to be inclusive of all Celtic spiritual paths, as we feel there is more than one path to the divine. Our goal is to create a welcoming atmosphere for any and all following a Celtic path. While we are not so much a reconstructionist tradition we are reconstructionist compatible. To us, it is about celebrating the culture of the Celtic peoples as well as their spiritualities in their many and varied forms. To be sure, our ways may not be for everyone, but being inclusive is of the utmost importance to us to help others find the most suitable expression of their personal beliefs.
Sylvan Celtic Fellowship was founded in the Metrolina area of North Carolina. Our goal is to facilitate Celtic spiritual tradition and have Druids to serve it. We hope to create a home for Celtic spiritual paths of all types to come together for worship, as well as our own tradition which we call "The Sylvan Way". We have borrowed from many modern Celtic spiritual traditions to create something that would make sense to our Iron Age ancestors but still be relevant and applicable to today’s modern world. We have created a hearth based form of Celtic worship for our members so that they can be responsible for their own walk with the Divine.
The Sylvan Way is our term for what we do but different Celtic traditions would have their their own. The Gaelic traditions would call it "Sinnsreachd" which means ancestral customs. A Welsh equivalent would be “Amldduwiaeth” which means “polytheism”. Another term meaning “ancestral customs” constructed from Old Celtic would be “Senistrognata”. We have crafted a practice that is based on both modern Druidic and Celtic Reconstructionism forms, incorporating both the latest scholarly material and the best parts of the Celtic Romantic Revival. But it isn’t just a solitary activity, it is also a Hearth Based Practice.
At Sylvan Celtic Fellowship we want our congregation to be able to take charge of their own spirituality. So while our Druids may hold public rituals and service for our people and our community, we also want you to be able to worship on your own in a way that works best for you. Our hearth branch is called “Tribes of the Sylvan Hearth”.
Our Druids are our clergy. Sylvan Celtic Fellowship is a church organization and our Druids are the ministers for our congregation. Our Druidry branch is called the “Order of the Sylvan Oak” and it is our clergy training education/mystery tradition. Our Druids conduct our public High Holy Day rituals as well as doing private rituals for our congregation, such as Rites of Passage. Our Druids are available to our congregation to teach the Sylvan Way and to educate about the ways of our ancestors as well as our myths and legends.
Please feel free to take a look around and join us. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
