Since its creation one of the main goals of Sylvan Celtic Fellowship is to be a safe inclusive place for people to learn together. Our tradition may be new but it is based on mythology and lore and reconstructionist techniques. SCF is still growing and evolving with it's material and teaching program. It is a community and a tribe.
We welcome people from all walks of life and do not discriminate based on gender, gender identity, race, sexual orientation, disability, socio-economic background or faith. We do not tolerate prejudice of any kind, nor do we tolerate harassment or abuse of our members. These are things that we take very seriously and strive to deal with swiftly if it should occur.
We do hold public events and rituals, we also do a good bit of our learning online together. We conduct ourselves with the same respect for each other online as we would at a public event.
What does SCF consider harassment and abuse?
We consider harrassment to be any prejudicial or discriminatory language or conduct directed toward a member or members that violates our policy of inclusion. Inappropriate sexual comments, unwelcome advances, and unwanted communication towards a member or members falls under this catagory as well.
Abuse towards another member is considered any action that threatens their safety or wellbeing.
If I need to make a report how do I do that?
Grievances and/or concerns can be brought to the Chancellor and other members of SCF leadership. Reports will be investigated and taken seriously with unbiased objectivity. Any documentation or evidence you can provide would be very helpful in our investigation but all reports will be investigated.
What happens after I make a report?
In accordance with SCF's bylaws infractions will result in the offender being issued a warning, if that warning is not heeded they will be brought before leadership council and appropriate action will be taken. If an offense threatens the safety and wellbeing of a member or the community it can result in the offender being removed from SCF and barred from its public events. If police action is deemed necessary we can help assist and counsel members to get them involved.
What happens if I need to make a report against leadership?
While it is our hope that this will never need to happen we will also pursue all reports with unbiased objectivity. The behavior of said leadership member will be investigated, evaluated, and appropriate action will be taken to protect our members and community. This will be fair and thorough.
In the event that a member or someone in leadership is arrested for a crime that could affect the safety and wellbeing of the community, the case and evidence will be carefully reviewed and evaluated and the action that best serves the community will be taken. Friendships or influence of that person will not ever be a factor in this process.
